While global markets are reeling from the challenges of high inflation and slow growth, India appears to be doing well, driven by private consumption and investment. This, coupled with strong macro data points, healthy corporate earnings, and strong domestic retail inflows, point to an overall supportive domestic environment.
Indian markets stood out in CY22 erasing all losses for the year so far, while other global peers are still struggling and have yet to recover. Brazil is the only market doing better than India as the majority are down around 20% from their December 2021 close.
