Union Home and Cooperation Minister – Amit Shah has instructed the North East Chief Ministers to ensure fiscal discipline in their respective states, a key element in making India’s economy “the second largest in the world”.
Addressing the 70th Plenary Session of the North East Council (NEC) in Guwahati on Sunday, the Union Minister claimed that the development of the North East has been hampered for decades, due to insurgency, lack of connectivity and the reluctance of the previous government to focus on the region.
“Prime Minister Modi’s administration has worked hard to understand the underlying challenges and devised solutions to support the region’s move towards development,” he said.
During the last eight years of PM Modi’s government, many attempts have been made to improve connectivity, foster peace in the region; thereby ensuring its development.
